Hi Gen, Thank you so much for yesterday. I had lots of fun singing BVs on Blue Sky Mine at the taping of the Susie Weekdays on WIN show with you, Colin, and Brendan. I love watching you work and I learn from you all the time. Really excited to hear you're now planning your next album! (hope it's ok to mention that). The make-up girls said the show goes to air next Thursday 21st, at 10am. That sound right? Looking forward to seeing Billy Elliot one more time before you go to Melbourne! Lots of love, Tia Jordan www.auditionguru.com

Hi Genevieve; greetings from London. Just got back from 3 terrific weeks in Sydney (I am missing it something chronic) and was lucky enough to catch Billy Elliot there. I thought it was head and shoulders above the London production, and you were absolutely stunning. Congratulations on your award.....very well deserved. Looking forward to coming back next year, and hopefully will be able to see you with your band!! Any chance we could borrow you for the London version of BE?!! Also, congratulations on the engagement, what a lucky bloke. All the best, Alun xx

We've read the Australian reviews and can't wait to see the Oz Billy Elliott. We are coming out in March to see you. Everyone is saying your production is , at the very least, as good as London. I just loved Mrs Wilkinson in the Billy Elliott premiere. Congratulations. Remarkable performance. Such heart. And such a voice. A brave piece of casting. That is to say, not the usual safe song and dance cliches that musical theatre has a habit of falling back on. I take my hat off to all concerned. what a wondeful cast. Richard Piper as the emotionally bound up father of Billy brought me to tears. I saw my father so clearly in him. I will be coming back and bringing more friends next time. Best wishes, Terrence.

Hve just seen the utube Blue Sky Mine. Did you play it at the Peter Garrett function which you say, on your website, that you [played at. If so, did he like it? It's very different from his version. I don't know which one I like best. Although, I must say the words on the one you did seem to be much more poignant. But I do like the music on the Oils version better, I think. I have been a Midnight Oil fan since I was a kid. I never thought of it as a beautiful song before. Maybe I need a few more listens. I've never been big on cover versions, but I have also been a fan of your acting since I saw you in Steaming. So I am a little bit torn. I will post another comment when I make up my mind. I listened to the tracks from your album that you have on your website, and I don't think I'll buy it because as I said I don't like cover versions much.Sorry. I liked Cowboy Man and Tom Trauberts Blues, but I have never heard the originals of those. But having said that I think you are a great singer. I remain, your fan, Bernadette Baxter

Hi Genevieve,i saw you at the Steely Dan concert on Saturday night. I came upto say hello but then I wasn't game. I wanted to say I have seen nearly all your shows over the last couple of years and can't wait for Billy Elliot. I don't know of many actors with your breadth of talent. Perfect comedy timing, beatitiful character acting, singing and dancing..... i loved you as Amanda Vanstone in the Wahrf Revue. You guys are the best of a very small minority in this country who are not afraid to make political comment in public. In an age where the voicing of views that differ from those espoused by the political masters is discouraged, we need people like you guys (and now the Chaser) who aren't afraid to point out that the emperor has no clothes. Good on you. Renee.

Hi Genevieve, I listened to your songs on Myspace. What a fine band you guys are. I am a greta admirer of Eva Cassisdy and you guys are right up there too. I was in the music business and saw a lot of Emmylou Harris in the 70s and 80s and remeber your fiddler Wayne from her band. i think he replaced Ricky Scaggs. In those days he played a lot of mandolin. and if my memory serves me right he also use to play a baritone saxophone. But my favourite memory of Wayne is the fiddle solo he did on one of the Crosby Stills Nash albums. I cant for the life of me remember the song. Ask him, he should remember. Your paino player is as fine as any I've ewver heard - bass and drums just rock.- very melodic both of them. The gut string guitarman, goddamn, that guy is all soul. and to top it off a liitle subtle dobro pokin out here and there to make me feel right at home. But all that means nothing without your heart stopping vocal 9and the girls backing you up.) Can i get your cd here in the US? I saw in the comments that Michael on Fire from Detroit is a fan (or friend?) of yours. That guy is awesome I've seen him many times around the US,. You probably could care less but I just wanted to tell you what I thought. i didn't think there wsere bands like that down there, but then I do remember the easybeats and midnight oil so.... Wish you well. thank you. i hear so much music but now and then something special comes along. Hope the whole cd is as good after all that. best wishes -ennie

I hear that, Reed. I first heard of Geneivieve as a contender for Interview Magazine's Two-minute Oscars. To quote them - ......." 7. GENEVIEVE LEMON as the dithering, lace-capped Nessie, who nurses an utterly unrequited crush on Harvey Keitel in The Piano. (In truth, Lemon's role as Nessie makes her a rather substantial Two-Minute contender, but her work in Sweetie won my heart forever.)" .........I had seen "The Piano" but watched it again for Nessie - fabulous performance. Then I had to find Sweetie and I was totally shocked. A truly magnificent actor. I don't understand why we havent seen more of you here, Geneivieve. And a singer too. ( I listened to the cuts on your Myspace). Most actors can sing but you are truly a great singer. Don't tell me you can dance too?????? TTT - True Triple Threat. Thank you , Geneivieve, I am a great fan. Could I please have a signed photo of Sweetie? Please.

Just heard you Sideshow WOW!!!!! what a voice, what an interpretation!! when the Oil's sang it , i could barely understand a word. you did justice to the lyrics and the gravity of the song. What a pleasure to hear a singer with great diction!!! So few and far between these days! ( for the record, i'm not 72 as one would possibly expect that sort of a comment from that generation! I'm 45!. For what it's worth i,m also a fan of the vocal and diction qualities of Julie Andrews! Stop!! do not typecast me based on that!! Seriously, great backing musos and vocals! CHEERS!!

Hi Genevieve! I'm afraid you've been terribly misinformed, we're not in love with Tony Sheldon... we're in love with YOU! You see; we clearly recall the day in October 2005 whilst watching Tony perform his Hitler "challenge tap" for the tenth time (from the front row of the Producers). We both simultaneously turned towards each other and declared the following:- "If the utterly fabulous Genevieve Lemon is ever in a show with Tony Sheldon we'll go once a week and sit in the front row every time!" (And when it comes to declarations we ain't foolin' around) Now seriously.. everybody that we take to see Priscilla says that Shirley steals the show and we have to agree.. Shirl, is a hoot! It's been wonderful watching you build that character week after week and you have us in stitches every time. Thank you. We're extremely interested in seeing your new show "Lemon Tart" and have tried Ticketmaster on several occasions to no avail. Is there another source to book the tickets or are they not on sale as yet? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. See you Tuesday(s...) Love Kelly and Alison Front row centre, occasionally on the side (fringe dwellers)

I'm so glad that Sweetie has finally been recognized as one of the world's great films with its release as part of the Criterion Collection. I first saw it in 1990 or 91, and fell in love with you and Karen Colston and Jane Campion. I have followed Jane's career but have seen little from you or Karen. When I watched it again tonight I was stunned by your Sweetie - truly rivetting. I think when I saw it all those years ago, I didn't appreciate the depth of your performance. I see from your website that you have in fact done a lot since Sweetie, but your work is not as accessible here in the US as it is in Australia, so I may be forgiven for being less than familiar with your work. Please forgive the gushing of an old film buff. I felt moved to write and say congratulations - maybe 15 years too late but I applaud your Sweetie now. Thank you, Genevieve. Arnold Leslie Truman. A WARNING, people. Don't blindly accept everything you hear from Scheptic. I believe he may be a mole from Australian Government intelligence. Now the word is out, I think they are trying to destabilise the SHIRLEY FOR PM Campaign

<<<<<<<<<<CONSPIRACIES>>>>>>>>> i just noticed that Downtown is the first song in Priscilla and also the first song on the geneveve's Angels in the City album. is that a coincidence? Or is Tony Hatch the most popular man in showbiz. (Nxt to our Johnny that is).Is Tony Hatch running for PM? And Shirley is not on Lemon's CD. No where. No mention of her in the credits and I can't hear her anywhere. Has anyone ever seen geneveve Lemon and Shirley in the same room at the same time? People say Lemon is often seen entering or leaving the Lyric Theatre stagedoor, but you only see Shirley onstage. And no one has ever seen Shirley arriving or leaving the theatre. The evidence is fast reaching it's critical mass..............

I think to make up for such a crucial error of judgement in not having Shirley on dancing with the Stars they should make her the host next season. Or the hostess. From there its just a bit of a sidestep, or quickstep, to the PM's office. Watch out, Little Johnny and Big Dazza I can sense a rumbling out there in the masses.

I also must say that I was a LOT disappointed to see that Shirl wasn't part of the gig on "Dancing with the Stars" Her rendition of "I Love the Nightlife" would have been an absolute hit. Keep up the good work Shirl, and as Kim said in her message, SHIRLEY FOR PM..I would vote for that!!!!! If these is any vacancies in FOSS please let me know.

We didn't see Shirley on Dancing with the Stars the other night. What's that all about? We watched the whole show and then NO SHIRLEY. We were a little bit miffed. Tell your producers they has 9 dissapointed fans.

E.R, thanks for your kind words, however I suspect the version of Blue Sky Mine that you heard on the radio was actually Lemon Tart, not the GL Band. Lemon Tart ( a show I do with the beautiful Josh Quong Tart), had just finished a season at the Statement Lounge in Sydney and was asked to play live for the ABC 702 Writers Week Live Broadcast from the Sydney Dance Company Cafe at the Wharf. We did a number of songs including BSM.You didn't leave your email address for us to let you know about whats happening with the band. Doing 8 shows a week in Priscilla means G.L.Band dates are quite sparse for a while. However we think the CD launch for Angels in the City will be in January during the Sydney Festival and also a series of Lemon Tart shows during February. Come back to us with your email and we'll let you know. Gen

I have just heard your Angels in the City CD. Great album! I didn't know it was your band who did this enigmatic version of Blue Sky Mine that I heard on the radio earlier this year. I never heard who it was. But it stayed with me. What a great arrangement of a great song. i look forward to seeing this band. Where? When?

Hi, we saw you in "My Brilliant Divorce" in Tasmania last year. We were holidaying from Sydney. Then we heard that you were doing "Lemon Tart" at the Statement Lounge in Sydney this year, we came along. We didn't realise it would be so musical, we only knew you as an actor. I cried when you sang "Blue Sky Mine". The Oils are my all time favourite band. ( Does that give my age away?)Anyway, when I stumbled on your website, I thought I might just write a little note. I've put my email onto your newsletter list. Can we come and say hello next time we see you performing? Thanks again, Libby

What is that magical something that makes me listen to "Angels in the City" over and over again? Genevieve's magnificent voice and mystical way she seems to own these songs--her interpretations have brought that magical something and given me a fresh appreciation for these great tunes. The band plays with such soulful conviction and joy---I love hearing the live performance that Genevieve and this fine group of musicians have gifted us with---bravo and blessings to you. I am honored to be one of the first in the world to have a copy of this CD. Thank you Colin and Genevieve. Enjoying this CD here in America--Detroit, Michigan
