Lemon Tart

Genevieve and Josh Quong Tart in their their first show together.
Josh and Genevieve met at a Sydney Theatre Company Workshop and one day Gen heard him singing in the ladies' toilet (they swear it's true!). On the strength of that one hearing, she asked him to sing back-up on the Angels in the City concert, and they remained close. Genevieve and Colin invited Josh to sing in the Show Mercy concert, Sydney Town Hall, April 21st, 2002. He turned up for rehearsals with brother Byron in tow, and all were knocked out by the beautiful blend of the boys' voices. In the concert, which was to raise awareness of the plight of refugees in Australian detention centres, they performed with the band that Colin put together for the occasion, featuring Jenny Morris, Paul Capsis, and The Café Of The Gates Of Salvation Gospel Choir, Genevieve, Reg Mombassa, and some of the finest Sydney musicians. After that Jenny invited Josh to sing backups for her, which he has done ever since.
In April 2006 TAA Enterprises, cabaret producers, approached Genevieve with a spot to fill in the Statement Bar cabaret venue, below the State Theatre, in Sydney. She decided to capitalise on her penchant for singing "boys' songs", and together with Josh and brother Byron, Colin and Brendan St Ledger, Lemon Tart was born.
They were lucky enough to find Tony Sheldon, Theatrical Comedy Mastermind, at a loose end, and snapped him up to put their show together. Genevieve sang the boys' songs, Josh (and Byron) the girls' songs, and Tony crafted a little gem of a show which highlighted la difference.
